Electric Cars

What is a Battery Electric Vehicle / All Electric Vehicle?

All Electric Vehicles, also known as Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) or fully electric vehicles operate solely on electric motors, eliminating the need for a traditional petrol or diesel internal combustion engine (ICE). This powertrain choice leads to an emission-free driving experience..

As is the case with plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), BEVs require charging through plugging in. However, unlike PHEVs, BEVs do not use an ICE for backup power.

Distinguished by their continuous use of electric power, fully electric vehicles exclusively operate in an all-electric mode. With their significantly larger battery capacity compared to PHEVs, BEVs boast an extended range, allowing for substantial travel distances on a single charge when using electric only..

If you're looking for a fully electrified experience with seamless driving dynamics, then a BEV may be of interest.

How do electric cars and vans work?

Essentially, electric cars and vans are powered by an electric motor instead of a petrol or diesel internal combustion engine.

EVs have a large on-board battery in replacement of the fuel tank, which stores energy to power the electric motor. The bigger the battery, the higher the EV's range.

A single-speed transmission is utilised in all EVs, sending power to the wheels from the electric motor, and an intelligent regenerative braking system is able to replenish some battery charge during journeys. However, most of the charging comes from plugging the vehicle in to a power source, which can be done at home or at various public charging stations.
