The Toyota Corolla is one of the best-known names in motoring worldwide, a badge that’s adorned more than 53 million vehicles since first appearing in 1966. There’s no sign of its product power diminishing with age, with the current model being crowned Car Dealer’s Used Car of the Year.
The current range of British-built hybrid electric Hatchback and Touring Sports models was honoured with the 2023 award for Best Alternative Fuel Vehicle and saw off competition from across the motoring spectrum to take the ultimate car of the year title, announced at a presentation evening in London last night.
James Baggott, Car Dealer Editor in Chief, said: “Toyota has pioneered hybrid technology over the past 25 years and it’s great to see its dedication paying off.
“The Corolla makes for a great used car buy and dealers love selling them – in many ways it has become the archetypal hybrid car over the past few years. Its powertrain is one of the finest hybrid systems around, and it’s a top choice for those considering greener motoring but who don’t want a fully electric hatchback.”
His view reflects the strength of Toyota’s multi-path technology approach of deploying a range of electrified powertrain technologies to give people options that suit both their budget and their mobility needs. This is helping maintain a steady decrease in CO2 emissions towards the ultimate goal of carbon neutrality.
Announcing the award, motor retail expert Mike Brewer commented:“Corolla’s design turns heads and it’s both good fun and comfortable to drive – a hard thing to achieve. Better still, dealers know that when it comes to hybrids, they can’t do much better than the Corolla. It is a hugely deserving winner.”
Customers can enjoy perfect peace of mind when looking for a pre-owned Corolla with Toyota’s approved used car service. All vehicles offered undergo a 145-point check by Toyota technicians and are sold with 12 months’ full roadside assistance cover. Cars that are less than 10 years old or have covered up to100,000 miles qualify for a Toyota warranty. This is provided through an initial manufacturer warranty from the car’s registration date, followed by an additional 12 months/10,000 miles warranty, automatically applied with every scheduled annual service at an official Toyota Centre (terms and conditions apply).
