Toyota has equipped its Aygo city car with a premium sound package that packs a mighty punch. The new JBL Edition focuses on audio excellence with the most powerful and sophisticated system yet featured in the model.
JBL is Toyota’s partner for premium in-car audio, designing systems to achieve the best results for each specific model. Aygo may be the smallest in the line-up, but that has been no barrier creating a live gig feel with JBL’s advanced audio technology.
With 100W per channel in the system’s amplifier, there’s a total 600W of sound power on tap – plenty to generate a rock venue vibe or concert hall ambience, depending on your taste in music.
The new set-up comprises two 25mm high-frequency tweeters on top of the instrument panel, two 150mm full-range speakers set low down in the front doors and a meaty 160mm subwoofer for bass sounds housed in the spare wheel well in the boot (a tyre repair kit is provided in place of a spare).
This array is designed to provide a full sound spectrum with good audio dynamics, using JBL’s energy-saving GreenEdge technology that maintains dynamic performance while reducing power consumption by half. Sound reproduction is co-ordinated through the bus-less amplifier.
Thanks to smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, owners can use the system to enjoy their personal music library with ease while on the move.
There’s no mistaking the Aygo JBL Edition on the street, thanks to its special Electro Grey paint finish with bright contrast Mandarin Pop orange roof, front pillars, side sills and lower grille surround. The vibrant look carries through to the cabin, with Mandarin Pop accents around the front air vents, door trims and gear shift. The colour is also picked up in the front seat bolsters and carpet mat edging.
The new Aygo JBL Edition is on sale now, price £14,150 (on the road) with five-speed manual transmission and £14,850 with the x-shift automated manual gearbox. Standard features include Toyota Safety Sense with a Pre-Collision System and Lane Departure Alert, black twin-spoke 15-inch alloy wheels, part-leather upholstery, automatic air conditioning, reversing camera, rear privacy glass and front fog lights.
