Teams from across The RRG Group played out a competitive 5-a-side football tournament on Wednesday night in aid of the British Red Cross Turkey/Syria Earthquake appeal.
Almost half of the Group’s franchised dealers were represented along with Head Office with teams from RRG Altrincham Toyota, RRG Denton Toyota, RRG Huddersfield Toyota, RRG Macclesfield Toyota, RRG Rochdale Toyota, RRG Kia Bury, RRG Skoda Rochdale, Lexus Bolton and Lexus Stockport taking part to make 2 leagues of 5 teams.
Teams were made up of players from across a number of job roles within the Group including General Managers, Aftersales Managers, Sales Executives, Vehicle Technicians and support roles with even Vice Chairman Arran Bangham donning his boots.
It was great to see so many colleagues get together to enjoy the night with some great goals scored, some crunching tackles and 1 or 2 moments players probably wish they could forget.
Following some tough games and topsy turvey results in the group stage it was the teams representing RRG Toyota Altrincham, RRG Toyota Rochdale, RRG Kia Bury and Lexus Stockport who made it through to the semi-finals.
In the first semi-final, RRG Altrincham Toyota faced off against Lexus Stockport with RRG Rochdale Toyota taking on RRG Kia Bury in the second match to see who would make it through to the final. RRG Altrincham powered through to a 5-1 win over Lexus Stockport with RRG Kia also putting in a dominant display to get past RRG Rochdale Toyota by a 5-0 scoreline.
In the final, RRG Kia Bury raced into a 2 goal lead only to be pegged back in the closing stages with the RRG Altrincham fightback taking the encounter to penalties. As with most penalty shootouts, nerves were on show but it was the team from Altrincham who triumphed following a miss from their opponents.
All in all, the event proved a great evening for all involved with the aim of raising over £500 for the British Red Cross Turkey/Syria Earthquake appeal.
