Kia UK Limited has been named ‘Manufacturer of the Year’ at the AM Awards 2022, along with the all-new Sportage being awarded ‘New Car of the Year’.
Voted for by the AM’s readers along with an expert panel of judges, Kia was celebrated for its alluring product line-up, business planning and communication. Tim Rose, Editor of AM, commented: “A combination of desirable product and a management culture of good planning, great communication and profitable business opportunities won our winner this trophy.”
Paul Philpott, President and CEO of Kia UK Limited said: “We’re delighted to receive both awards and thank the AM judges and readers for their acknowledgement of our unwavering efforts. Our business is based on delivering industry-leading customer experience bolstered with a responsible business model and an excellent working relationship with our dealer partners. This, powered by our leadership in electrification and our broad product line-up, including the all-new Sportage, positions us as a true challenger in the industry.”
The all-new Sportage features a brand new design maximising Kia’s ‘opposites unite’ design direction, pioneered by the multi award-winning EV6 electric car. The fifth generation car features full hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains, alongside mild hybrid petrol and diesels giving customers a wide variety of modern and efficient powertrains.
Rose, commented: “Voted for by AM readers, this winner is bang up to date, in high demand, and will help its brand move forward considerably.”
The all-new Sportage’s award win this year also follows the outgoing model being awarded ‘Used Car of the Year’ in the 2021 and 2018 AM Awards. The Sportage is Kia’s most popular model, with more than five million sold globally since its launch in 1995.
The AM awards follow Kia’s established sales successes and numerous awards this year, having claimed the number one position as most popular car brand in terms of sales in the first quarter of the year, and having been named ‘Green Manufacturer of the Year’ by the National Franchised Dealers Association (NFDA).
