PEUGEOThas reported year-on-year growth across private car and van volume and market share, while the brand remains in the top 10 for total car and van sales, according to the latest figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).
So far this year, the volume of passenger cars sold to retail customers has increased by 19% compared to 2025, rising to 7,623. PEUGEOT’s share of the retail passenger car market has also increased from 2.8% to 3%. This success is the result of an increased focus on retail alongside improvements to the customer experience and through close partnership with the PEUGEOT retailer network, including investment in local marketing and training.
Notably, the brand’s retail electric car sales have seen impressive growth year-to-date, achieving 1,599 registrations – an 130% increase since last year. The brand’s retail electric car market share likewise increased, going from 2.5% to 3.9%.
PEUGEOT has also enjoyed a strong first quarter in the LCV market, becoming the third best-selling LCV manufacturer year-to-date. Van sales have grown by 8% year-on-year to 6,748, with market share now at 7.91% – an increase of 0.8 percentage points.
The success of PEUGEOT’s LCV range is further solidified by the PARTNER ranking number one in the compact van segment. With diesel and fully electric powertrain options available, the PARTNER offers practicality and efficiency for customers, while also giving businesses the confidence to move towards fully electric fleets.
Nicola Dobson, Managing Director, PEUGEOT UK, said: “It’s been a promising start to the year for PEUGEOT, as we close Q1 with increases in both retail volume and retail market share for cars, as well being among the top three brands for overall van sales. These results, and the popularity of our vehicles, reflect our continued commitment to customer choice and driving pleasure. We look forward to building on this success throughout the year and increasing our exciting vehicle line-up, with the launch of the New 408 and E-208 GTi later in the year.”
PEUGEOT offers the most extensive electric vehicle line-up of any mainstream brand in Europe. This applies to the brand’s LCV range, in which every fully electric van is eligible for the government’s Zero Emissions Van Grant (ZEVG). Through this funding, customers can save up to £5,000 on a new PEUGEOT electric van.
Similarly, many of PEUGEOT’s electric cars benefit from the Electric Car Grant (ECG), including the E-208, E-2008, E-308, E-308 SW, E-408, E-RIFTER and E-TRAVELLER COMBI. Introduced by the UK government to help support electric vehicle ownership, and to aid the transition to an electric future, customers can save £1,500 off the list price.
