PRICING IS CONFIRMED FOR THE NEW ELECTRIC HOT HATCH, BACKED BY BEST-IN-CLASS PERFORMANCE FIGURES.
Following Monday’s reveal of the new PEUGEOT E 208 GTi, Alain Favey today announced best in class performance figures and pricing, as part of the PEUGEOT Press Conference which took place at Le Mans:
One year on from the presentation of the E-208 GTi concept, earlier this week PEUGEOT revealed the definitive version of the E 208 GTi. And today, as part of the PEUGEOT press conference at Le Mans, announced best in class performances figures built to WOW.
PEUGEOT celebrates 100 years, since its first time racing at the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans, marking the occasion by announcing the technical specification and price point of the electric hot hatch.
The new E-208 GTi remains incredibly close to the original 2025 concept, given the enthusiastic reception that it received from both GTi fans and customers alike. Building on the continued commercial success of the PEUGEOT 208 range, the heir to this emblematic model line continues to write the GTi legend launched four decades ago with the iconic 205 GTi.
Unique driving pleasure, best in class performance, a sporty yet elegant design and exceptional versatility: the E 208 GTi reinterprets PEUGEOT GTi DNA by injecting modernity, fun and technology. The new PEUGEOT E 208 GTi is the very first 100% electric GTi.
Conceived and designed in France by PEUGEOT Sport and PEUGEOT Design, the E 208 GTi proves that PEUGEOT is taking the pleasure of driving more seriously than ever. Opening an entirely new era for GTi.
ALL THE EXPERTISE OF PEUGEOT SPORT FOR UNIQUE DRIVING SENSATIONS
PEUGEOT entrusted the technical development of the E 208 GTi to PEUGEOT Sport, its motorsport division based in Satory (near Paris), responsible in particular for its WEC programme with the PEUGEOT 9X8. The engineers who develop PEUGEOT’s Hypercars were tasked with building on the success of the E 208, with this performance focussed E 208 GTi version.
Christophe Auriault, E 208 GTi Project Manager at PEUGEOT Sport said:“From the very beginning of the project, it was obvious that PEUGEOT SPORT should be involved in the E 208 GTi project. We have unique experience and expertise in designing this type of car. It was also clear that the goal was to create a 100% electric GTi. We wanted to prove that all the PEUGEOT GTi DNA can be found in an electric car. And we have succeeded.”
BEST IN CLASS PERFORMANCE
Drawing on their unique motorsport experience, PEUGEOT Sport engineers made no compromises on sportiness: the PEUGEOT E 208 GTi is the most powerful and best performing model in the B segment.
A 281 hp electric motor with motorsport derived control software. The PEUGEOT E 208 GTi is equipped with the M4+ electric motor, developing 281 hp and delivering an impressive 345 Nm of torque. It is produced in Trémery, eastern France, a plant historically dedicated to engine manufacturing and now specialised in electric powertrains as part of the E motors joint venture between Stellantis and Nidec Leroy Somer.
PEUGEOT Sport engineers have extensively optimised this motor, particularly its electronic management: the electronic board components and control software are directly derived from motorsport.
With the best power to weight ratio in its segment (182bhp/tonne), the PEUGEOT E 208 GTi delivers outstanding acceleration. From 0 to 62 mph in just 5.5 seconds. (That’s 0.2 seconds faster than the initial proposal.) This is backed up by a 1000 m standing start in 25.8 s and 3.2 s from 50 to 80 mph. Top speed is limited to 112 mph.
Christophe Auriault said: “This work on electronic motor control is at the very heart of our expertise. It draws directly on the know how gained in motorsport and transfers it from the circuit to the road. The skills used for the development of E-208 GTi, are the same ones that can be found when working on the 9X8.”
SUSTAINABLE PERFORMANCE THANKS TO OPTIMISED BATTERY COOLING.
The PEUGEOT E 208 GTi uses the same 54 kWh gross battery (51kWh useable) as the E 208, but its management has been adapted to meet the exceptional demands of the GTi motor.
PEUGEOT Sport engineers applied motorsport knowledge in battery thermal management. Focused particularly on coolant flow strategy, when and how much coolant is delivered depending on temperature. Perfectly cooled, the battery allows the E 208 GTi to always deliver maximum performance, without power limitation regardless of driving conditions.
Christophe Auriault says: “One of our main priorities was performance durability. We did not want to reduce this exceptional power to protect the battery from derating, something seen on some electric performance cars. For example, if a customer is driving up a mountain pass, they should be able to stay in ‘Sport mode’ for the duration. It is the GTi spirit, performance should be constant. Drawing inspiration from motorsport, we designed battery cooling management that avoids power limitation in demanding conditions.”
Depending on the free choice of high performance tyres, the PEUGEOT E 208 GTi offers combined WLTP range of up to:
EXCEPTIONAL AGILITY AND DYNAMIC HANDLING
True to PEUGEOT GTi DNA, PEUGEOT Sport engineers combined the unique power and performance of the E 208 GTi with agile, dynamic handling that delivers instinctive driving pleasure.
Numerous modifications have been made to an already excellent E 208 chassis.

Responsiveness
Traction
Ride and comfort
Safety
Versatility
Christophe Auriault, says: “The most important element of the chassis transformation lies in front/rear antiroll balance, especially with the addition of the rear anti roll bar. Our drivers from the PEUGEOT 9X8 tested the E 208 GTi on circuit and their feedback was: ‘Don’t change a thing.’”
FRENCH CHARISMA AND ELEGANT SPORTINESS
To create the E 208 GTi, PEUGEOT designers combined the natural elegance of the E 208 with the restrained sportiness of GTi DNA.
Michaël Trouvé, E 208 GTi Project Manager at PEUGEOT Design says: “We wanted the E 208 GTi to be immediately recognisable as a PEUGEOT GTi, with a design that speaks for itself. It had to be worthy of this iconic badge, while remaining modern. A key point was its sporty stance on the road, and we created strong visual cues that are powerful but not ostentatious – making the E 208 GTi an extraordinary toy, equally at home in the city or on track.”
ALL THE CLASS OF THE PEUGEOT E 208
A compact, dynamic silhouette
The refined yet dynamic styling of the PEUGEOT E 208 provided an ideal base for the GTi, with its muscular shoulders, compact dimensions and short overhangs.

A confident stance
As with all GTis for the past 40 years, the E 208 GTi stands out through its lowered body and widened track.
The 18 inch perforated wheels reference the iconic “holed” wheels of the 205 GTi, while also improving brake cooling.
Specific yet discreet design details
Widened wheel arches accommodate the increased track, with flared lower sections emphasising sportiness without excess. A front spoiler and a specific rear aerodynamic diffuser in glossy black integrate a new LED rear fog light for elegance and discretion.
Subtle red accents – the GTi signature
GTi red is present throughout – but always with restraint: grille, headlights, PEUGEOT front emblem, wheel arches, front brake callipers, “208 GTi” C pillar badges, rear spoiler, and throughout the interior.
Evocative exterior colours
Seven body colours are available, several referencing the 205 GTi:
