RRG SIGN CONTRACT EXTENSION WITH OLDHAM ATHLETIC

31st May 2024

We are delighted to announce that Oldham Athletic and The RRG Group will continue their partnership for the 2024/25 campaign, with the leading motor dealer continuing as front of shirt sponsor.

RRG are one of the biggest and most successful motor dealer groups in the north of England, boasting 21 dealerships across the North West and West Yorkshire, a number that is set to grow soon with the addition of two new franchises.

The group represents a total of ten car manufacturer brands, with customers soon able to access Omoda and Jaecoo vehicles in addition to Toyota, Lexus, Mazda, Peugeot, Škoda, Nissan, Kia and MG.

The extension builds on a successful first 12 months of the partnership, with representatives from both Latics and RRG driving around the Boundary Park pitch in a host of cars to celebrate the occasion.

We’ve also worked together on a host of other projects, such as wrapping a series of cars in last season’s home, away and third strip ahead of the campaign, and RRG kindly donating their space affront the Latics shirt to Alzheimer’s Research UK, to support chairman Frank Rothwell’s solo row across the Atlantic Ocean.

Latics CEO Darren Royle said: “Our partnership with RRG Group has flourished over the last year and we are looking forward to see it grow further in the 2024/25 season.

RRG have become magnificent supporters of the club and we have very much enjoyed working with their team on a number of projects over the last 12 months.

“Our work with RRG is centered around a modern partnership which has many benefits for Oldham and the surrounding area and we are very excited to be able to continue this work”

Arran Bangham, RRG Group Vice Chairman, said:"Being a local business in the Oldham and Rochdale area and building on our partnership with Oldham Athletic for our second season gives us a great opportunity to get our name out in the community and support a great local club as well as hopefully providing local people with their next new or used vehicle."

"We have very much enjoyed our partnership with the club so far and we look forward to introducing the people of Oldham to the OMODA and JAECOO vehicles at our brand new showroom opening this Summer on Manchester Road, Chadderton as well as building on the historic links between the Toyota brand and Oldham."

RRG acquired the Toyota franchise in 1971, and have spent the past 50 years selling cars on behalf of a company with such historic links in Oldham.

The Toyota Motor Corporation was founded in the 1937s by Kiichiro Toyoda, son of Toyota Industries founder, Sakichi Toyoda.

Toyota entered the motor vehicle industry when Kiichiro was invited to England by the Platt Brothers, who bought the patent for the Toyoda Model G Loom.

The loom allowed a single worker to operate up to 30 machines at one time, increasing their productivity and output tremendously.
