The new Toyota Land Cruiser has been acclaimed for setting the “gold standard” for go-anywhere SUVs, winning the Utility/4×4 title in the Scottish Car of the Year Awards.
The honour, presented at an awards celebration in Edinburgh yesterday evening, reaffirms Land Cruiser’s status as vehicle of exceptional strength and quality.
Ally Ballingall, President of the Association of Scottish Motoring Writers, said: “The Toyota Land Cruiser earned this award for its legendary toughness and exceptional off-road capability.
“Our judges praised its robust build, advanced four-wheel drive system and impressive reliability in demanding conditions. Its spacious interior and practical features make it equally at home on rugged trails or daily drives. The Land Cruiser remains the gold standard for versatile, go-anywhere utility.”
Introduced in late 2024, the latest generation Land Cruiser takes the model “back to its origins,” both in heritage design cues and the use of clever engineering and technology solutions to enhance its off-road performance. Built on a new GA-F body-on-frame Toyota global architecture platform, it is true to its heritage of more than 70 years in being a vehicle that can take you anywhere and everywhere, and bring you back safe and sound.
For 2026, the Land Cruiser moves to a new electrified powertrain, the 2.8D 48V delivering a smoother and more comfortable drive, both on-road and off, and benefiting from a more responsive and quieter engine stop-start system. The new model is on sale now ahead of customer deliveries beginning in March 2026.
