Kia is continuing to strengthen its position in the electric vehicle market, with the new EV2 receiving early recognition from CAR Magazine and the PV5 quickly establishing itself as one of Europe’s leading electric commercial vehicles.
Kia EV2 named ‘Crossover of the Year’
The Kia EV2 has been named ‘Crossover of the Year’ at the CAR Genius Awards 2026, marking one of the first major accolades for Kia’s newest electric vehicle.
The EV2 is Kia’s smallest and most affordable electric model in Europe, designed, engineered and manufactured in Europe. Combining compact dimensions with a practical, boxy design, it offers comfortable seating for five, competitive luggage space and a completely flat cabin floor, making it well suited to both urban driving and everyday family use.
Following the launch of the 42.2kWh Standard Range First Edition earlier this year, the EV2 Long Range will join the line-up with a 61.0kWh battery and a range of up to 275 miles on a single charge. Prices start from £24,245 on-the-road, with Long Range variants qualifying for the maximum £3,750 Government Electric Car Grant, helping make the EV2 an increasingly accessible option for customers considering an electric vehicle.
The EV2 will be available in three grades – Air, GT-Line and GT-Line S – giving customers a choice of equipment and specification across the range.
Ben Miller, Editor of CAR Magazine, praised the EV2 for combining a compact footprint with “big-car comfort and range”, while Kia UK President and CEO Paul Philpott highlighted the model’s combination of bold design, everyday practicality and advanced technology.
The award adds to Kia’s growing collection of recognition for its electric range and reinforces the brand’s ambition to offer a diverse selection of EVs for different customer needs.
Kia PV5 leads Europe’s electric small van market
Kia’s progress in electrification extends beyond passenger cars, with the PV5 becoming Europe’s top-selling electric van in the C-segment during the first six months of 2026.
The PV5 recorded 13,116 sales across Europe during the first half of the year, giving it an impressive 37% share of the electric C-segment. It was the best-selling electric van in 12 countries, including the UK, where 3,361 PV5 models were sold.
Available in Cargo, Passenger and Chassis variants, the PV5 has been designed from the ground up as an electric commercial vehicle. Its tight turning circle, low cargo loading height and flexible modular architecture make it particularly practical for businesses, especially those operating in busy urban environments.
The PV5 has also received significant industry recognition. The PV5 Cargo was named International Van of the Year 2026, while the PV5 Passenger was awarded Family Car of the Year at the BBC TopGear.com Awards.
Its versatility is further demonstrated by the expanding range of configurations, including a wheelchair-accessible vehicle and a seven-seat Passenger version. The PV5 Cargo has also demonstrated its long-distance capability, covering more than 430 miles on a single charge to set a Guinness World Record.
Kia’s PBV strategy is designed to go beyond the vehicle itself, creating a wider ecosystem of software, services and flexible mobility solutions for businesses and specialist users. The company plans to expand the range further with the PV7 in 2027 and PV9 in 2029, with more than 40 different body types planned across the wider PBV programme.
Together, the EV2 and PV5 demonstrate the breadth of Kia’s electrification strategy, providing practical and flexible electric options for both private customers and businesses. With the EV2 making electric driving more accessible and the PV5 offering a versatile solution for commercial users, Kia’s expanding electric line-up continues to provide solutions across an increasingly wide range of customer needs.
