Škoda Peaq Demonstrates Electric Range as Brand Strengthens Towing Credentials

Škoda is demonstrating the breadth of its latest vehicle range, combining impressive electric capability with proven towing credentials. The new all-electric seven-seat Peaq has achieved 936km on a single charge, while the Superb and Kodiaq have secured major honours at the Caravan and Motorhome Club Towcar of the Year Awards 2027.

The Peaq’s record-breaking journey began as an idea from two Škoda employees, Marek Jež and Jakub Krs, who wanted to discover how far the new electric SUV could travel on a single charge. Starting from Škoda’s headquarters in Mladá Boleslav, the production Peaq 90 travelled through Germany before completing its journey in the Dutch seaside resort of Zandvoort.

Without recharging, the seven-seater covered 936km at an average energy consumption of just 9.2kWh/100km. This exceeded the model’s official WLTP range of up to 647km by 289km – almost 45% further. The record attempt was conducted under the supervision of certification authority TÜV SÜD.

The vehicle was a production Peaq 90 equipped with a 91kWh battery, 210kW of power, rear-wheel drive and 19-inch wheels with low-rolling-resistance tyres. Its carefully optimised aerodynamics, including a drag coefficient of 0.249, also contribute to the Peaq’s efficiency.

While the record was achieved by adopting an efficiency-focused driving style, the Peaq has been designed for everyday use, combining long-distance electric capability with seven-seat practicality, comfort and technology. It is the largest and most spacious SUV in Škoda’s range and introduces several features to the brand, including flush door handles, a panoramic roof with Dynamic Shade Control and bidirectional charging.

Customer demand has also been strong, with more than 10,000 orders already placed for Škoda’s new electric flagship.

Alongside the Peaq’s electric credentials, Škoda continues to demonstrate its established expertise in family and business-friendly vehicles, particularly when it comes to towing. At the latest Caravan and Motorhome Club Towcar of the Year Awards, the Škoda Superb was named Towcar of the Year 2027, while also securing two category victories.

Tested in Superb Estate SE L 2.0 TDI 193PS DSG 4x4 specification, the model won the Family Towcars and Caravan weight 1,600–1,700kg categories. Judges praised its combination of towing stability, four-wheel-drive traction, diesel performance, ride quality and class-leading boot space.

The Škoda Kodiaq also secured a category win, taking the 1,700–1,800kg class in plug-in hybrid form. Its acceleration, braking performance, stability, visibility and comfortable interior were all highlighted by the judging panel, demonstrating that electrified powertrains can also deliver the capability required by customers who tow.

The Towcar of the Year competition is one of the longest-running towing tests in the leisure vehicle industry. This year, 42 vehicles were assessed in demanding real-world conditions, including acceleration and braking tests, hill starts, downhill braking, high-speed stability, reversing, visibility and comfort.

The latest results take Škoda’s tally to seven overall Towcar of the Year victories and 35 category wins since 2002, further strengthening the brand’s reputation for practical and capable vehicles.

Together, the Peaq’s long-distance electric performance and the towing achievements of the Superb and Kodiaq demonstrate the breadth of Škoda’s current offering. Whether customers are looking for an electric seven-seat SUV, a versatile family vehicle or a capable towcar, the brand continues to provide a range of powertrain and vehicle options designed around different lifestyles and requirements.
