OMODA revealed the OMODA X concept at the global OMODA&JAECOO International User Summit in China yesterday. OMODA’s all-new concept explores the characteristics that define an SUV – a confident stance, space for people and their belongings, and the versatility to go further – and reinterprets each through OMODA’s focus on design, technology and fashion.
Designed around the way its customers live, the OMODA X concept brings these practical traits into a world of weekdays in the city and weekends away, where a car is as much an expression of personal style as the clothes they wear.
That starts with its external aesthetic. The concept’s sharp, angular surfaces develop the ‘Cyber Mecha’ design language introduced on the OMODA 4, which made its European motor show debut in Paris earlier this month ahead, of its UK launch in 2027. On OMODA X, that language is applied to a wider body with broad shoulders and a tightly sculpted waistline. The concept was shown in silver and green, each paired with a contrasting black roof.
Familiar OMODA details link it to the current range. Its lightning-style tail lights follow the lightning-inspired lighting of the OMODA 7 and forthcoming OMODA 4, while the arrowhead shape of its LED daytime running lights reflects the arrow-shaped rear lights of the OMODA 5.
Inside, the concept explores how technology could make the cabin feel more personal. A twin-wing dashboard and X-shaped floating centre console frame a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 13.2-inch central touchscreen, while physical controls are retained for frequently used functions such as the air conditioning and drive modes.
At the heart of the cabin is OMODA’s Super Intelligent Space. Its concept voice assistant is designed to understand natural, conversational speech rather than set commands, while a personalised X-MODE drive setting allows the driver to tailor vehicle settings and responses to their own preferences.
Further concept technology extends to time spent in the car together. A microphone system with four independent sound pickup zones allows passengers to sing along to in-car karaoke without handheld microphones, while an infrared thermal imaging night vision system can identify potential hazards up to 90 metres ahead, adding reassurance on journeys after dark.
The concept’s practicality is designed around the same lifestyle. A ground clearance of 200 mm, a 75 kg roof load capacity and 39 storage spaces provide room for equipment, including a heightened towing capacity intended to reach 1,800 kg.
OMODA X is a concept vehicle. Specifications are as announced at its reveal and are subject to change. UK availability has not been confirmed.
