Elegance, performance and generous equipment levels make the Peugeot 508 a leading contender in the large family car class, where it holds its own against the Vauxhall Insignia and the VW Passat. The 508’s very reasonable running costs also make it an excellent choice for a company car.
Care has been taken with Peugeot’s family saloon to ensure that every element of the exterior is elegant and refined, from the sleek simple lines of the grille, featuring the Peugeot lion, to the flowing contours of the car’s profile. LED headlamps and tail lights look stylish and have the added benefit of saving energy. The smart 18-inch alloy wheels fitted on the Active and Allure models are upgraded to 19-inch versions for the GT.
Step inside the spacious cabin and you can see that Peugeot has done everything to ensure you will be comfortable when driving. There is plenty of head and legroom for five adults to travel in comfort, no matter how long the journey. Half-leather upholstery is provided in the Allure trim, while the GT edition gives you seats fully covered in Nappa leather. Automatic dual-zone air conditioning means you and your passengers can all travel in comfort, even when different temperatures are required. A colour head-up display allows you to read essential vehicle data without taking your eyes off the road. If the 550 litres of boot space is occasionally not enough, you can easily lower the rear seats to create a 1,598-litre storage space, ideal for transporting awkward, bulky items measuring up to two metres in length.
Engine options for the Peugeot 508 include a range of 1.6-litre or 2.0-litre BlueHDi diesels, with the flagship GT edition being fitted with a 2.0-litre 178bhp diesel engine. Both manual and automatic transmission options are available. CO₂ emissions start as low as 99g/km for the Active edition with manual gearbox.
Equipment levels are high on the 508 range, and even the entry-level Active has Bluetooth, DAB radio and a satellite navigation system accessed via the seven-inch colour touchscreen fitted on the dashboard. MirrorScreen technology with CarPlay allows you to make calls and use apps such as Google Maps safely in hands-free mode. Safety features fitted as standard across the range include ESP, ABS, six airbags and emergency brake assist. Blind spot monitoring and a reverse parking camera are available as optional extras on the Active edition, and fitted as standard on the Allure and GT models.
