If you lease a fully electric car on the Motability Scheme, Motability will arrange a home chargepoint and standard installation as part of your lease.
You’ll need to pay if you’ve had a fully electric car on the Scheme before, you’re leasing a plug-in hybrid, or you need a non-standard installation.
You’ll need to have off-street parking next to your home, like a driveway or garage. You’ll also need permission if you do not own your home. Or it’s a freehold flat or a leasehold.
You can make sure your chargepoint is installed somewhere that gives you enough space to move around and plug in. Your chargepoint installer will guide you and answer your questions.

To qualify for the Motability Scheme, you must be in receipt of the Higher Rate Mobility Component of the Disability Living Allowance, the Enhanced Rate of Mobility Component of the Personal Independence Payment (PIP), War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement or the Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP). Applications must be received and accepted by Motability Operations from 1st April to 30th June 2026. Offers may be withdrawn at any time and are subject to availability.
