Nissan LEAF

The Nissan LEAF is a genuine automotive phenomenon, an affordable and viable electric car that will get you from A to B and beyond in style.

Exterior

As well as its other attractive qualities, the LEAF is an undeniably good-looking car, with softly curved edges and a high, wide windscreen. The LEAF’s styling choices aren't all just about looking futuristic though, as the charging port remains in the nose for easy access and extra care has been taken to make it aerodynamic. Case in point; the LED headlamp cluster has been designed and shaped to direct airflow away from the door mirrors and reduce drag. It's not just the electric engine that is clever as far as the LEAF is concerned.

Interior

Thanks to the positioning of the battery under the floor, the Nissan LEAF gives drivers a high and commanding driving position that is unusual for cars of this size. The controls have all been mapped out appropriately to be within easy reach for the driver, and the dashboard features two digital instrument clusters; one above the steering wheel and one visible through the upper gap in the wheel. As is typical of a Nissan, the interior of the LEAF is decked out with a mix of soft-touch and hard-wearing materials and is well assembled, with well-damped controls and durable switchgear.

Performance and efficiency

All versions of the Nissan LEAF come with the same engine, but there is a choice of two battery packs which offer different average ranges. The 24kWh entry model will give you up to 124 miles between charging stops, while the beefier 30kWh can travel as far as 155 miles. Whichever battery pack size you choose, the LEAF can travel from 0-60mph in around 11 seconds.

Safety and technology

The Nissan LEAF has a five-star crash safety rating from the experts at Euro NCAP, so you can be sure that it will provide maximum protection for all occupants in the event of a collision. The LEAF also comes equipped with a full complement of airbags, including side impact airbags, as well as stability control and ABS. IF you opt for the higher-spec Tekna trim you will get access to a 360-degree camera display.
